Lions Working Together
Its great being part of a small club (Whittlesey & District Club comprises 11 members, but there are times when you really need some extra pairs of hands. So it has been super this year, to be able to collaborate with other Clubs in our area on a number of high profile events.
We were called upon at the last minute to lend a hand at this year’s Tour of Cambridgeshire cycle race. The organisers expected 6000 entrants, many of whom would need to leave their belongings in a safe location whilst they competed. As the start and finish line was at The East of England Showground in Peterborough, we invited friends from Peterborough Lions to join us. It was a beautiful sunny day and we were kept busy - not only with the ‘bag drop’ but
also directing competitors to the Registration area and visitors to the Expo. We took our stand to advertise our club we received many compliments from event organisers and competitors.
It was such a success that we have been asked to help again next year, not only with the ‘bag drop’ but also to man an information desk. So we will definitely be asking Peterborough Lions to support us again when the Tour returns next July, as it’s a marvellous way to promote Lions.
We also found ourselves working with clubs from our area when we were asked to help at the Royal Norfolk Show. Again, our team comprised of Whittlesey and Peterborough
