Ashok Lavasa nominated as Finance Secretary
Senior IAS officer Ashok Lavasa has been nominated as the Finance Secretary of India.
Till this time, He was working as the Expenditure Secretary and is a 1980 batch IAS officer.
The senior most secretary in the finance department is nominated as the Finance Secretary.

Nomura lowers India's GDP growth to 7.7% for FY17
Nomura marked down India's GDP growth forecast marginally to 7.7 per cent for the current fiscal, from
7.8 per cent earlier, saying there is still no sign of an export or private capex turnaround.
The Indian economy grew at 7.9 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2015-16 taking the overall GDP growth
for the last fiscal to a five-year high of 7.6 per cent.

India's growth rate is expected to hover near 7.5% this year as well as next even as many emerging market
economies continue to lose momentum.
The outlook was released a day after data shared by the statistics office showed that India grew at 7.6% in
2015-16 and economists expect it to grow 7.9% in FY17.
