Lion Stephen Browne has been awarded the Melvin Jones Fellowship, Lion Stephen joined the Lions Club of Ipswich in 1994 and has served as President twice.
Stephen took on the role of treasurer, at very short notice (about an hour) in 2002. He must like the job because he is still doing it!
One of his tasks for the Club is to provide toiletries for patients and their families who find themselves admitted to St Elizabeth’s Hospice in an emergency. Lion Stephen has also organised the refreshments there for
day visitors. He organised a number of the “Go the extra mile” walks for Diabetes UK.
His President’s project for 2014 – 2015 was to raise funds for Canine Partners. These are assistance dogs that help with all sorts of activities around the house. Money was raised to buy a puppy, Sirus, who is now undergoing his intensive training. Stephen has also helped with funding the training of Jacob, another Canine Partner dog, who has been paired with a disabled man in Ipswich.
He has been involved in all the other activities the Ipswich Club has undertaken in the last 22 years.
