Martin Crowe: Ex-New Zealand captain dies of cancer at 53
Former New Zealand cricket captain Martin Crowe died after a long battle with cancer.
He was 53.
Widely regarded as New Zealand's finest batsman, Crowe played 77 Tests from 1982-
1995 and scored 5,444 runs at an average of 45.36.
The elegant right-hander also scored 4,704 runs at an average of 38.55 in One-Day
Internationals. Crowe was initially diagnosed with follicular lymphoma in 2012 but the
disease went into remission.
Poet Dr Bhagwati Lal Vyas to be awarded Bihari Puraskar
Eminent poet Dr Bhagwati Lal Vyas has been chosen for the 2015 Bihari Puraskar for his
anthology of Rajasthani poems 'Katha Sun Aawe Hai Sabad'.
A recipient of Sahitya Akademi Award, Dr Vyas has highlighted the increasing tendencies
of commercialization and degradation of human values through his poetry.
IMF projects 7.3% GDP growth rate for India this fiscal
The International Monetary Fund has projected a robust growth rate of 7.3 per cent for
the country this fiscal, picking up to 7.5 per cent next year.
The agency's protections are lower than the government's estimate of 7.6 per cent
growth in 2015-16 while Reserve Bank sees economy expanding by 7.4 per cent this
fiscal.
Growth is projected at 7.3 percent for fiscal year FY2015-16, picking up to 7.5 percent in
FY2016-17 (at market prices), supported by stronger domestic demand
