Bank Holiday Buggy Push
What better way to enjoy the Bank Holiday than to dress up and push a lion plush toy in a child’s buggy along the promenade! Well that’s exactly what members and friends of Lancaster and Morecambe Lions Club did on the August Bank Holiday Sunday along the Morecambe prom, raising £124 for their club's charitable work. Fantastic!
In a League of Their Own
The Camborne Redruth & District Lions Club joined forces, once again, with Big Sue’s (Sue Shepherd) Darts League to raise much needed cash for St. Julia’s Hospice by holding a ‘sponsored doubles’ darts marathon.
Five participating teams took part in the very competitive marathon, adjudicated by the Lions, at Blaythorne Sports Club, for the honour of winning the Lions’ shield, medals and dart board.
Lion President Derek Canham presented shields, medals,
dart boards and certificates to the Holman’s Team for the highest team sponsorship of an incredible £717.35 and the team from the Coppice scoring a record 544 doubles scored during the 2 hour marathon.
A medal was presented to Big Sue (Sue Shepherd) for all the help she had provided to make the marathon such a success. Sue and Lion President Derek were then able to present a £2000 cheque to Sarah Newton, Community Fundraiser for St Julia’s Hospice.
