TorpoinT and rame peninsular lions
Torpoint and Rame Peninsular Lions had perfect weather for their annual summer fair. Packed full with entertainment, including a bouncy castle, donkey rides, Punch and Judy, stilt walkers, dancing, junior field gun and much more, the crowd was definitely in high spirits.
Mayor John Crago and Mayoress Tina Crago along with Lion President commenced proceedings at 1200 pm with Town Crier Clive O’Shaunnessy who welcomed everyone to the event. The sun shone throughout the afternoon making it even more special. The Lions tea tent was especially busy all afternoon selling pasties, cakes, cream teas, and sandwiches to raise money for the Lions charity.
Mrs Hilary Pym was very brave and had her purple tinted hair shaved by Barbara and Lion Dave Rosson, to raise money for Clic Sargent charity, the charity that supports young cancer sufferers and their families supporting them throughout the illness.
A special presentation was made by the Lion President Andy to the Carbeile Junior School of a new set of sports tshirts complete with the Lions logo. The Lions will supply new tshirts every year which was welcomed by the team and trainers.

Last of the Summer Fêtes
CaisTor and disTriCT lions
Caistor and District Lions’ very first Beer Festival was, by any standards, a huge success. Over the course of two afternoons and evenings in June, more than 800 people passed through the gates of Caistor’s South Street Park to enjoy the twenty-two hand-pulled ales on offer, an excellent turnout for this small Lincolnshire Wolds town!
Local breweries were joined by others from all over the country to present some of England’s finest ales to a discerning public, with a selection of gluten-free beers, cider, lager and wines also on offer. Such was demand that the first casks had
gone by mid-afternoon on Saturday and, by the time the Festival closed, nearly 3,000 pints had been consumed with every last drop being sold. Indeed, had Trading Standards regulations not been taken into consideration, it is likely that the slops from the trays could have been sold as well!
Of course, it wasn’t only beer drinkers who flocked to the Festival. On Saturday, many families came to the park to enjoy the event and, with face painting, a photo booth, ice cream, soft drinks, food and sunshine all available in abundance, there was something for everyone!
