Bank of Baroda makes entire provision in third
quarter, posts Rs. 3,342 crore loss
Bank of Baroda – the country’s second largest lender – reported a Rs. 3,342 crore
loss during the Oct-Dec quarter, as compared to 334 crore profit during the same
period last year as bad loans surged.
This is the highest-ever quarter loss posted by an Indian lender.
NPCI increases paid-up capital
National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has increased its paid-up capital
from Rs. 100 crore to Rs. 137 crore by broad-basing its stakeholder base of
various public and private sector banks.
Earlier, Mr.Balachandran said the NPCI had an authorised paid-up capital of Rs.
100 crore, shared by 10 banks.

Obama has declared that he would nominate a replacement for Antonin Scalia
who died on Saturday at 79, ending a controversial tenure through which he
steered the court towards the right with a series of pronouncements.
Srikanth Srinivasan shall be appointed as the next Judge.
Northeast’s first ‘smart village’ along Indo-
Bhutan border
Barsimaluguri, about 11 km from the Indo-Bhutan border, in Baksa district has
been turned into a model smart village with 100 per cent toilets, solar power and
pure drinking water becoming the 1st smart village of North-east.
