The development of Integrated Circuits (IC) marked a notifiable turn
in the history of computers. The transistors were replaced by a
powerful chip, an IC. With the implementation of ICs, the
computational time decreased and the result was in the form of
significant speed.
An Integrated Circuit also known as chip or a microchip is made up
of silicon (a semiconductor). An IC is a wafer like chip that is
mounted with millions of resistors, capacitors and transistors.
Sir Werner Jacobi patented IC, hence he is awarded as the developer
of IC. The idea was conceived by Sir Geoffrey Dummer.
